Green Blades
Preaching Roundtable

The Green Blades Preaching Roundtable began in early 2020 around a physical table at Saint Andrews Lutheran Church in Grand Rapids, Minnesota, where pastors spent a morning sharing their prepared reflections on the ecological and eco-justice implications of the weekly lectionaries from Ash Wednesday through Pentecost (a Sunday for each person). What is the Resurrection for the whole creation?, we wondered as we wrestled with the texts.  The insights were rich.  We wanted to do it again.

That spring, the Covid-19 pandemic closed down in-person gatherings, including that year's EcoFaith Summit: "Now the Green Blade Rises: The Easter Gospel for the Whole Creation·.  From the buried seed of that canceled Summit, the EcoFaith Network of the Northeastern Minnesota Synod ELCA started several new initiatives, including the Green Blades Rising Newsletter. A year later, we launched the Green Blades Preaching Roundtable, this time around a virtual table, still with the same goal of a variety of preaching people wrestling with the ecological and eco-justice implications of the weekly lectionary.
