Peace with Creation
The 2025 Season of Creation theme
In the seasons of Advent, Epiphany, Lent and Easter we celebrate the life of Christ. In the season of Pentecost we celebrate the Holy Spirit. Now, in the season of Creation, we have an opportunity to celebrate God, the Creator.
The Season of Creation can be celebrated at other times in the year. However, it is typically celebrated in the Sundays of September, prior to (or including) Saint Francis Day at the beginning of October. For four Sundays in September, prior to St Francis of Assisi Day, we join in celebrating with Christ the wonders of creation. Read more about the Season of Creation on their website.
Need help planning? Themes for each Sunday, prayers, suggested readings and litanies are available at seasonofcreation.org. A lectionary and prayer listing for each Sunday is available here. For access to the Dakota Road Earthkeeping Liturgy, go to the Dakota Road website.
Send your stories, photos, season of creation banners, and other ideas from your Season of Creation to ecofaith@nemnsynod.org. We want to share them!
2025 Suggested Theme: Peace with Creation
1st Sunday: War on Creation
2nd Sunday: Our Hope: Creation Will Find Peace When Justice Is Restored
3rd Sunday: A Kairos Moment: 1700 Years of the Nicene Creed
4th Sunday: A Call to Action: The Effect of Justice will be Peace
To celebrate Season of Creation with the 2025 theme, find all the resources for worship planning, promotion, and more here: https://seasonofcreation.org/resources/
Please note:
*Some congregations who celebrate the Season of Creation continue using the regular RCL lectionary rather than shifting to new readings.
**In trinitarian worship, every Sunday is a celebration of God, the Creator, Christ, the Redeemer, and the Holy Spirit, the Life Giver. We do not wait for one month a year to worship as people of the Creation and the Creator!
